Apple Computer Inc. on Tuesday said that Eric Schmidt, chief executive officer of Google Inc., was elected to the iPod maker’s board of directors.Schmidt also sits on Google’s board of directors and Princeton University’s board of trustees.
Google CEO Joins Apple’s Board
Now this is very interesting! Apple and Google are now poised to give a one-two punch against Microsoft! With the recent Google Apps for your Domain service, I am hoping that Apple will take advantage and leverage Google’s services and migrate .Mac to this service. Imagine the possibilities:
- iDisk works with Google’s storage that stores Writely and Google Spreadsheet. The much rumoured Numbers will definitely benefit from this as well.
- iWeb works with Google Apps for your Domain Web Pages like what I did with mine.
- Mail.app moves to Google-hosted GMail service. Full 2GB of storage for each .Mac user.
- .Mac Group moves to GoogleGroups.
- iChatAV is now compatible with Google’s GTalk.
- Best of all, .Mac becomes FREE!!!!!!
