I just came from a 2 day trip to Baguio City to play party-host for the JEDI Night at the Philippine Society of IT Educators National Convention (PSITE). This is the second time that Sun Microsystems and the UP Java Research & Development Center team hosted dinner to honor educators who joined the JEDI program. The event is free to all – free as in “free beer”, but there was no beer since we were not allowed to bring in alcoholic drinks. ![]()
Anyway, the event turned out pretty well but not as fun as last year’s in Iloilo. However, I had the unfortunate experience of finding out how unruly IT educators can be just to get freebies! Of all people, I did not believe that they, the teachers, can really be that uncivilized and uncultured. Sad, huh? (All of these were negated by the generosity and hospitality of Prof. Nancy Flores of the University of Cordilleras. Thanks, Ma’m, we surely appreciate it!)
Whilst I look forward to next year’s JEDI Night, I hope that the teachers will not be so barbaric next time. Students do not emulate these teachers!

I agree, Ilo-ilo was more fun. I felt my hosting this year was kinda dry. The environment (weather, people, etc) really affect one’s performance. Hehehe.
Filipinos in general will do anything for a freebie! Sheesh! Look at our J1 hakot
